The Freedom of Expression Committee exists in recognition that silence is neither accidental nor neutral. In an era shaped by algorithmic suppression, the imprisonment of journalists, state-sponsored disinformation, and the growing normalisation of self-censorship, Human Rights Solidarity is committed to defending the rights to speak, publish, question, and be heard.
The committee advances this mission through research on the relationship between artificial intelligence and free expression, examining how algorithmic systems shape public discourse and access to voice.
It leads public advocacy on World Press Freedom Day, builds partnerships with international organisations, and convenes expert panels at universities, bringing together journalists, academics, lawyers, and civil society representatives.
The committee also maintains an archive of censored and unpublished work, preserving voices others have sought to erase. By creating physical and digital spaces for silenced individuals, it strengthens public understanding and delivers lasting advocacy impact.
