Environmental Rights Committee
The Environmental Rights Committee reflects Human Rights Solidarity’s recognition that the climate crisis is not an equally shared burden, but a profound injustice that affects most severely those who have contributed least to its causes. Communities in the UK are disproportionately exposed to high air pollution, limited green space, and inadequate environmental infrastructure, while remaining underrepresented in the policy decisions that shape these conditions.
The committee addresses this gap through research on the environmental dimensions of human rights, covering issues from access to clean water and breathable air to the legal and ethical implications of deep-sea mining, fast fashion, and the environmental costs of artificial intelligence.
It also leads participatory community actions, including litter picks, tree planting, seed libraries, repair workshops, and urban growing projects that strengthen ecological awareness and social cohesion.
Grounded in the principle that environmental advocacy must be inseparable from justice, equality, and community, the committee delivers meaningful local engagement while advancing long-term environmental and human rights impact.

Meet Our Volunteer Team
Human Rights Solidarity is an organisation devoted to the activism and advocacy of Human Rights around the globe. HRS started off as an unincorporated organization in early 2020 and is aiming at being recognized and registered as a charitable incorporated organization in 2022.
We are independent. HRS is a self-organised and volunteer-led organisation. The only allegiance we have is to our foundational principles that are incorporated into our founding documents and the Solidarity Principles.
